Here at our house we love our pets they are family to us and the more pets the better. We’d probably get more but we are out of room at this point. So when I was asked to try a new dog food that could help our older dog with her memory and learning abilities. I was excited to give it a try. I guess dogs can start to loose some of that at 7+ years because at that age the glucose metabolism in a dog’s brain begins to change. Our dog Keira is 11+ and doing great and I want to do what we can to keep her that way. She was given to me by my husband a week before our wedding and has been our baby since then and we want to take good care of her because she is a sweetheart and we adore her.
So the husband and I took her to PetSmart to go get some of Purina’s new Bright Mind dog food, specially made for dogs 7 and older. This new food is specially made to help older dogs improve their memory and alertness. Now that she’s 11 I am wanting her to have the best years as possible for her golden years.
She was so excited to go with us to PetSmart. Now that she’s older she doesn’t go on as many car trips as she did when she was younger just because it really exhausts her to be out. She was also excited because it was just her, at home she has to share the attention with our puppy but that day we were focused 100% on her.
She was excited for her trip and she loved Petsmart. She wanted to check everything out she did not want to stop smelling new smells for pictures but I got a few of her and then she got to smell more. I’m fairly certain she was thinking I was crazy for wanting her to take a picture next to a bag of dog food but like most things she went with it. As a puppy she was a wild little thing but now as an adult dog she is much more easy going and very eager to please me and my husband. So since we were happy she was happy.
She wasn’t really interested in much of the store. She walked by all the dog costumes and toys and didn’t care. She liked seeing people and all the staff at PetSmart were very nice to her and she liked them. She really liked the dog treat isle. She could smell the treats and that was exciting and she convinced us she needed at least a little something.
I’m excited to see what changes I can see in her at the end of a month after switching to the new Bright Mind food, she is really loving the new food and it’s been a little over a week. According to Purina when dog owners add this food to the daily diet of their they may notice differences in owner-dog interaction, interest in play and the ability to adapt and cope with change. I’m excited to do anything that might improve my dogs quality of life. I will update you all with how she is doing in a few weeks. Hopefully she will still be loving it and showing lots of positive changes and improvements.
