If you are a reader of my blog you know that I’m a book fanatic. I love to read and I love to buy books. I think it’s great to get reviews of books from bloggers and friends so that I know I’m getting a great book before I buy it. So here are a lot of books you should totally be reading. There are 7 listed but some are series so it’s a lot more than that. Books also make great gifts and you can still get them by Christmas if you order soon. Books are great all the time though so treat yourself to a book or get a special gift for a friend.
1. Yes Please by Amy Poehler
This is an amazing book. I loved her before I read it and love her more now. She was funny and open and this was a great read. This woman is hilarious and honest and I hope she writes more. She seems like a great friend, mom and someone to work with or for.
2. All souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness
This is actually 3 books but I’m just counting it as one spot on my list. I love trilogies because I always want there to be more story. This is a book about Witches and vampires and other supernaturals. The difference is that it is not a YA book, though I love young adult it was really awesome to get a more grown up version of this type of book. It’s a love story, there is action and even a little bit of history. There was a long wait between books 2 and 3 and it was so good I could hardly stand the wait. You are lucky though they are all out now so you can get them all and not have to wait
3. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Loved the book and the movie. I don’t typically goo for thriller’s by Gillian Flynn is a great Author and I love this book. It’s one I want to re-read I don’t feel that way about every book but this book was that good. It’s not scary but more thought provoking and thrilling. You don’t know what to believe and who to believe and I loved that. Gillian has two other books Sharp Objects and Dark Places which are also great reads.
4. Anything by John Green is a great read.
This is my absolute favorite of his books that I’ve read. I read it all in one day. I couldn’t put it down that’s how great it was. I cried a lot but I think great books can make you cry and that’s not a bad thing. It has amazing characters that you really care about and grow to love.
5. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon
This series is amazing but long. The books are very detailed which makes them great but there are now 8 books and I’ll be honest I’m on #6. I can’t help it I keep getting new books and I need to get back to this series. These books are so great it’s now a hit TV show on Starz which sadly I don’t have and I can only imagine how great it is based on these fantastic books.
6. Is Everyone Hanging out without me? by Mindy Kaling
My love for the amazing Mindy Kaling is no secret. She is a super star in my mind and I love everything she does including this funny and wonderful book. She has another book coming out in October, what a great birthday present for me and I am so excited. She turns what could be ordinary stories from her life into hilarious stories. You can’t help but want to be best friends with her after reading this book.
7. Miracles Now By Gabrielle Bernstein
I love, love love Gabrielle Bernstein. She is so motivating and inspiring and this book is just so uplifting and I love it. You get 108 little bite sized steps to apply to your life to make your life more amazing and better. Each one is a couple pages long and gives you an idea to try out such as #16 Make Forgiveness a Practice. Such a good lesson in that one.
I hope you enjoy my list of books, you honestly can’t go wrong with any of these choices. Reading is so good for you and expands your mind so much. It also I believe makes you a better writer and more well rounded person
