Let’s talk about why you need to make yourself a priority. You are way too important to get the bottom of your list. Too often though I know that’s where you are you don’t value yourself and all that you have to offer. Which is why it is so important to make yourself a priority in your life.
It doesn’t have to be that hard to make yourself a priority. It’s just probably something that you don’t do often enough to get good at it. Going though these three tips will make it easier on you to focus on making you a priority.
1. Aim to Go to bed an hour earlier each night
Getting enough sleep is so important and something that many of us don’t do well you stay up too late and end up surviving on caffeine in the morning. Over time this Behavior wears us down and takes a toll on our health and well-being. So if you really want to prioritize yourself make the commitment to go to bed earlier. You don’t have to be a lot earlier an extra hour sleep will make you healthier happier and more focused the next day.
Like many moms, I recently got in the habit of going to bed too late. It was too easy to just keep hitting next on Netflix and watch more TV or reading a book until the late night hours. It was making me so irritable the next day though. I was tired and that caused me to have more headaches and not feel well although I enjoyed my me time at night I started realizing that it just wasn’t worth it the next day.
I’m probably always going to be more of a night owl. I needed to go to bed at a reasonable time so I started turning the lights off an hour earlier. Just taking that small step helps me that get more done the next day which often means that I end up getting some time for myself because I’m more productive during the day because I was well rested.
So make the commitment to yourself to start going to bed an hour earlier. I bet you feel that there are millions of reason why you can’t do this. That you have too much to do already in your day and you can’t commit to losing an hour to go to bed earlier but it is so important.
2. Schedule in some me time
Taking time for me time gets a bad rep. So many people wrongly view it as selfish to take time for themselves. This is such a mistake and so not true. Taking care of yourself and making time for you is one of the best things you can do for not only yourself but the people around you.
3. Focus on your health
Taking care of your health is one of the best ways to make yourself a priority. Why is that? Because when your health is suffering than you are not able to take on as much or give as much to others. When your health is not a priority you are sick more often, tired or sluggish all the time and often just feel blah.
I’m not the most healthy person in the world. So when I say to make your health a priority I’m not talking about big changes but small and easy ones. Like step one get enough sleep. Being well rested does wonders for your health. The other major improvement to my health was when I started tracking how much water I drank.
I seriously drank like no water a few years ago. It’s no wonder I had headaches all the time I was dehydrated. Drinking more water is something that doesn’t take a lot of effort. It will help not only your health but your overall well being. On my phone, I use the app ihydrate and when I finish my water bottle I add it on.
It’s a free app and there are lots of them. I filter my water with a Brita Filter so it costs me nothing to drink more. This is a simple way of making myself more of a priority and you can do it too!
