I’m so excited to announce that The 31 Days to the best you in 2020 challenge starts in just TWO days. I’m feeling a combination of nervous, excited, and terrified! I don’t want you to feel this way though because it’s not going to be scary I promise.

So I wanted to write a welcome post to introduce you to what is happening this month and to help alleviate any fears and assure you that YES, you really can do this!
2020 is not only the start of a new year but a new decade and I want to help set you up for success by creating a whole month of helpful content and posts to help you be your best at the beginning of this new year and decade.
For one whole month, we’ll focus on practical ways to rethink our spending habits. We’ll also focus on getting our homes in order, creating a soothing space where we enjoy spending our time. From there we will look at ways to use our time more effectively and be more productive. We’ll finish our challenge by looking at how to take care of ourselves because if you don’t take care of yourself you won’t have anything to give. since the whole point is to set ourselves up for long-term success.
If you’re nervous about joining because you’ve already made commitments for January, or because you have a birthday or special event planned, or because you don’t think you can last a whole month, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered!
Though this is a challenge you can miss days or catch up when you can because we are going to be covering lots of things that you might need to work on. I just want to provide you with the information you need early in the year so that you can make changes and live your best life this year.
Here are just a few last minute tips to make the most of your month:
1. INVITE YOUR FRIENDS
This challenge is pretty fun on your own, but it can be an absolute BLAST when you do it with friends! Do yourself a favor and give yourself a built-in, local support system. You’ll be able to swap meals, trade ideas, and even pinch-hit for babysitting when necessary.
2. FOLLOW @afreshstartonabudget ON INSTAGRAM
I’m going to be hopping on Instagram as much as I can to share how the challenge is going for me and sharing how others are doing. So make sure you are following along and tagging me in posts about the challenge.
3. FOLLOW Afreshstartblog on Pinterest
My most active platform is definitely Pinterest because I spend so much of my time there. I also pin a lot so if you like the content from these posts you will find similar posts pinned in my boards

This past decade was a time of so much change in my life. I started the decade with a 3 year old and now have a teenager. I had a stroke which massively changed the direction and path of my life. We made the move from California where I was born to Colorado.
There was a lot of bad over the years and also a lot of good. I’m sure you experienced highs and lows as well.
2020 can be the start of an incredible decade and I’m excited to see where my life goes and to help you create the life of your dreams.
So what exactly is this challenge
You may be asking yourself what exactly is this challenge. Well, every day of January I’m going to be posting content that will stretch you to develop new habits and make changes to your life to better serve you in the new year.
Week one we are focusing on getting your home tidy. A tidy space will make it easier to get things done and to feel less stressed. Then in week two, we are going to spend some time on our finances. A big stressor for many people is money so let us spend some time getting our money in order.
Week three is all about productivity and mastering our time. We have a lot we want to accomplish and achieve and using our time well is key to our success. Finally, in the last week, we are going to focus on you. On caring for ourselves because we need to take care of our selves to be able to care for others.

GET READY TO COMMIT
I have discovered that once you decide to embark on a challenge, there is a very important first step: to commit.
This is the day we will change the way we look at how we live. This is the day we will stop making excuses and stop justifying the things we do that we know better than. This is the day we will, for one whole month, commit to improving ourselves.
Are you ready?
Right here, right now, I want you to fully commit to reading the daily posts and applying them to your life. Say the words out loud, preferably to your spouse and to your kids. Make it real.
Will it hard?
I’m not going to lie—at first it might be tough. But there is a secret to success. You have to be in—fully in, going headfirst and full force! Change isn’t easy! You can’t go into this challenge half-heartedly or you will not be successful and nothing will change.
Don’t procrastinate and wait for the “perfect month” to begin, because there will never be a perfect month! If you have commitments like a big family event coming up, view the event as a challenge in your plan, get creative, and move on. The perfect month will never happen, so rather than putting it off, take the plunge!
Create your own ground rules that account for your circumstances, and find the best ways to make your 31 Days to the best you in 2020 challenge work for you and your family.
Starting Wednesday the first I will be posting a new post here on the blog and I will be sending out emails to make sure you don’t miss anything. So if you aren’t on my list make sure you sign up below.
