New Year’s day is special in our family and here is why!
So 7 years ago today my sister went into labor. I was blessed with a quick labor from when my water broke till Bella was born was just over 12 hours, which seems like a long time but compared to some people who go for days and days it wasn’t bad. Plus I was home the first 3 hours waiting for contractions to get started so it was only about 9 hours in the hospital.
My sister had prelabor, mild contractions for days. She was a week over due and finally it seemed like this was the day. So my mom, my sister and her husband went to go walk around some stores, hoping the walking would get thing really moving. That evening being new years my husband and I went to my parents with Bella who was 15 months to watch a movie with my other sister and her boyfriend. We put Bella to bed and after the movie we called my mom and my sister was still in labor not really progressing. So my sister and I thought we should go drive to the hospital it was a little less than an hour away. It was around 9ish and we left Bella with the boys and went to the hospital.
I had a drug free labor with very little intervention and my sister wanted the same thing. So this long labor was really starting to get to her. My mom pulled me aside and said my sister wanted an epidural but didn’t want me to be disappointed that she couldn’t do it and I did. So I told her that if she needed it then she should get it. That my labor was much quicker so I understood. The important thing was that her baby be born. So she got the epidural.
It was hilarious though, my mom and I stood in the hall while they did it and this man came flying down the hall pushing his wife in a wheelchair. She was screaming like I’d never heard a pregnant woman scream. All of a sudden nurses started going in the room and my mom and I were thinking its going to be a long night we hope she doesn’t scream like that her whole labor. Well I guess it was baby #4 for them and this one came a little faster than they expected and they barely got her sweat pants off before the baby came out and the nurse had to deliver the baby. That was the 1st baby of 2008 at that hospital.
My sister had her epidural and after awhile they decided the baby wasn’t going to be able to come out naturally so they went in for a C-section. My niece Kilee was born that morning.
And Here she is fresh and brand new!
The first time Bella met her. They are 15 months exactly apart. Bella looks like she’s not sure what to think.
I have literally hundreds of photos of the two of them but I’ll spare you page after page with just a couple.
Look how cute my girls are. So little.
Tomorrow that tiny baby will be seven and I can’t believe how fast the years have flown by with these girls. I’m so glad we get to see them in a couple weeks. We only get to about once maybe twice a year.
