I have been a big fan of reading blog income and traffic report from many of my favorite bloggers for a long time now. I find it really interesting and I learn a lot about how other bloggers go about making money from their blogs.
I am glad that I started doing these blog income and traffic report posts the last few months. I like having posts to check back on to see where I was and how I’m doing now. As I’m doing them longer than I will really be able to compare traffic and income patterns through different seasons and times of the year.
August Income: I had more sponsored post opportunities in Aust so this was a decent month for income.Back to school gives me a lot more sponsored opportunities than I get during most of the year.
My Adsense income is still low because my traffic is lower these months than the rest of the year. That will hopefully be going up with my traffic increasing. I also want to look into getting more affiliate income. Some months I have it and some I don’t.
That and working on my own products is a big focus for me in the upcoming months. I know having my own products and services will grow my income at a much faster pace than relying on sponsored posts and ads.
August was a good month for my blogging income, not quite as much as July but still better than my average of$200-$300 a month, Excited to see that average increase soon.
Total income: $365
Boardbooster: $30- I spend a lot here because Pinterest accounts for at least ⅔ of my monthly traffic. I’m working towards growing my traffic more evenly across other channels. Since so much of my traffic is through Pinterest. Spending this on Boardbooster is a must.
Convertkit $29 – A major area I am trying to grow and improve is my email list. I know that since creating my own products is something I want to do I need to have a larger list and I made the switch to Convertkit from Mailchimp at the beginning of the year. It is slowly growing and getting bigger month to month.
Elite Blog Academy $49- I am still making monthly payments for Elite Blog Academy. At some point, I plan to write up a post a review of this great course. I’ve taken a lot of courses and this has been one of my favorites.
Total Expenses: $108
My August Blog Traffic
Like I mentioned in my last income report my traffic took a bit of a dive in July. That was expected because blog traffic tends to dip in the summer and then come back when school starts again. The beginning of August was slow and as the school year started across the country my traffic started getting better. Though in the end, I was still down in page views from July to August I was up in sessions.
I’m going to continue to build on the traffic coming back after summer and as the holiday’s approach. The increase in traffic will hopefully lead to an increase in income as well.
What 3 things I’m working on to boost traffic and income
1. Doing some guest posting on a few blogs to bring in new readers.
2. Writing more in general. I was so busy this summer that I didn’t write as much as I would have liked to. Now I have lots of great ideas though.
3. being more active on social media and especially in Facebook groups. I know that the more you give the more you receive and I haven’t been giving enough of my attention and time there.
