A lot of bloggers wonder how much they’re making and the best way to increase their blog traffic. Bloggers typically ask themselves these two questions: “What am I doing right?” and “What can I do better?”. This post is a detailed income and traffic report on my blog, so you can get an idea about what it takes to make money blogging.
This will be a monthly report where I share with you my earnings from my blog as well as the amount of web traffic that it received during that month. You’ll see what’s working, what needs work, and how to improve your website in order to generate more revenue for yourself!
I love sharing my blogging journey with my readers. I took a break from sharing income reports in 2020 but recently started them back up again. As we all know 2020 did not go as expected or planned. My blog traffic and income really suffered in 2020 and were so unpredictable that I just stopped doing the reports.
I’ve been blogging since 2012 and although I’m still a fairly small blog I had learned what was typical as far as ups and down with traffic and all of that went out the window with people not working out of home or traveling in 2020. It was discouraging but I stuck through it and this year things have started to come back to a regular pattern.
So I thought that I would bring back the blog traffic and blog income reports so that not only can other people hopefully learn from them but that I can motivate and encourage myself to keep growing.

BLOG INCOME report September 2021
Sponsored posts: $0
affiliate income: $45
My Products: $60
Total income: $353
After a real hit to my traffic and blog income in 2020, I’m excited to start seeing some change and things moving back to where they were in 2019. In all honesty, I thought I might be done with blogging last year because it was such a struggle.
I really enjoy blogging though and have since I started A Fresh Start on a Budget back in 2012. I’ve been a blogger for almost a decade now and that is just crazy to think about.
Being able to join Mediavine is such a great step in making money as a blogger. My ads are the majority of my income and my goal is to diversify that more in the coming months.
Growing that affiliate income year-round is one of my main goals for this new year. I want to find products and services I really love and share them with my followers in new ways.
If you are a blogger or aspiring blogger I want to help you to get to where you can start earning an income from blogging.
I’m really hoping that my blog will grow a lot this year and my traffic and income will increase.
It’s why I’m committed to sharing my not-so-good months as well as my good months because I want you to know that it’s possible to make money blogging. I don’t want you to feel like you should give up if you have months that don’t go as well as you would have liked. That blogging can be an up and down journey. It will take work and time but you can do it. I wasn’t sure if I would ever make money with my blog and I now am and you can do it too!
September wasn’t as great of a month traffic or income wise as I had hoped for. So far October has been better. I’m seeing more and more traffic to my holiday posts as fall continues.
The views to my Holiday gift guides page are increasing and I’ve been working on some new holiday content which is going well so far.
If you are looking to start making money blogging here are ways to do just that. Earning money through blogging has been one of the best things that I have started doing.
Blogging comes with some expenses from an email provider, to hosting, to services I use to create and run my products. When you are first starting out you can usually use cheaper programs and services but as you grow your expenses will too. It’s also important to shoe my expenses in my blog income report so that if you decide to start blogging you know that there will be costs. The costs will start low and grow as your blog grows.
Canva Pro- $13
Total Expenses: $202

MY BLOG GOALS
I use to set monthly goals and haven’t been as consistent with setting monthly goals and am going to start doing this and hopefully, this will help me start being more successful.
How I did on my September Goals
My goals had to take a back seat a lot in September because I got a horrible cold and was pretty much out of it for almost two weeks. Now that I’m feeling better I’m hard at work on getting more done and getting these goals accomplished.
- to create a new Youtube channel to share Pinterest/Canva tips ( Didn’t get done)
- to create a new optin to grow my list (yes I created a holiday optin)
- to finally post my how to start a blog post (Not yet)
- work on updating more Holiday content (yes I have)
My Goals for October
- to create a new Youtube channel to share Pinterest/Canva tips
- Need to organize my blog on the backend. Get photos and documents organized
- to finally post my how to start a blog post
- Focus on my email list and grow my list
BLOG LESSONS LEARNED THIS MONTH
That although I’ve been blogging for a long time that there is so much that I need to learn and get better at. I am slowly learning SEO which is helping my blog and I still have a lot to learn about it to get good.
I’ve decided to start sharing what I know about Pinterest and Canva and want to create videos to help people out. I love Canva and spend a lot of time creating and designing there. I know it can be confusing for some people and I know creating tutorials will help. So that’s my focus in the upcoming weeks.
I’m excited to see what I can accomplish in quarter four of this year before 2022 starts. I think that focusing on video will be a huge turning point for my online business.
