I live in California and I know that many of you do as well. If you aren’t from California you might not be aware that there is a very significant drought taking place. Every year things are getting worse and we all need to be careful with the water we are using and do are part to use less water.
If you drove around California years ago things were so lush and green. You could use all the water you needed to have a gorgeous lawn and landscaping. People had lovely lawns and green grass. Not so true anymore unfortunately . If you live in California or have been here lately you will see a lot more brown grass. Even businesses and golf courses are brown because there is a state mandate to use less water.
It’s important to do all we can to conserve water. So we don’t allow our daughter to use the hose while playing anymore since she isn’t careful with water, also not leaving faucets to run during tasks. It’s also important to fix any leaking or running water sources around the house, such as toilets and showers.
It’s also really important to take shorter showers and to only use the dishwasher or washing machines for full loads . One important area to cut water usage is in your yard.
So what can we do to save water in the yard?
So there are new challenges when it comes to how can we have lovely yards and a beautiful outside of our home because we still want a lovely yard but we have to consider the use of water when it comes to our yards.
You do have options though to still have a yard you are proud of and not use more than your fair share of water. One thing that is very common and that we do at our home and a lot of my family does is that we use succulents and Cacti instead of other landscaping that uses too much water.
Be Smart about Watering
Even with using Succulents and landscaping that doesn’t need a lot of maintenance you still use water so it’s important to use it smart.
