The training occurs at the Michael E. DeBakey Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center (MEDVAMC) and the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic (BPC). The geriatric psychiatry fellowship is closely aligned with the geriatric medicine fellowship. Applicants must have an active New York State medical license at the start of the fellowship. The training program will help the fellows learn how to formulate a broad differential diagnosis as well as develop a comprehensive geriatric psychiatry treatment plan based on the biopsychosocial formulation and input from the multidisciplinary team, and finally to monitor the treatment plan. The rotation is split between University of Arizona and the Phoenix VA hospital. Fellows in our program are exposed to a rich assortment of clinical environments, including the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and the Alois Alzheimer Center.
