I follow and connect with a lot of bloggers and entrepreneurs. This week being the last of 2015 is an exciting time for people who run blogs and businesses. I love this time of year because it’s so exciting to think of what has happened in the last year and what is to come in the year ahead. So it’s quite common among bloggers and entrepreneurs to pick a word of the year for the upcoming year. This word will become the focus of what drives you over the next year. It took a lot of thought to come up with the word I wanted to use.
There are a lot of great words to use and I could have picked many different words when trying to come up with a word for next year. I’ve tried doing this word of the year thing before in past years and have never really been as focused or determined as I am for this upcoming year.
I wanted to pick a word that would express what I hope for the new year as well as a word that would inspire me to push past my limits and do more and accomplish more.
After much deliberation I settled on the word:
I choose fearless because it’s how I want to go into 2016. To be fearless in all that I want to accomplish and achieve. I accomplished a lot and did a lot in 2015 but the things that I didn’t do that I wish I had. I think was because I was held back by fear.
So I know that to really make the most of the next year and to achieve my goals and dreams I need to become more fearless. I need to be able to try new things, to do what scares me, and to take some risks. These aren’t the areas that I’m real comfortable in and it’s beginning to occur to me that this is holding me back.
I think that setting a word of the year is a great way to start of the new year and a new season of goals for myself. This next year is going to be a busy one I’m sure. Isn’t every year busy? I also have so many goals and ideas for my life and business that I’m excited for.
I am so excited for everything to come and am hopeful that this year will bring big things for me and for you. So if you want to have the best year in 2016 then start with trying to pick your word of the year? Take some time with it. I’ve been thinking about it the last few weeks. Though I do know that some people begin thinking about theirs months before January 1st.
I think now is as good of a time as any to start thinking about it. Just think about how you want 2016 to feel. I wanted to feel accomplished, successful, brave. Then think about the things you wanted to accomplish in 2015 and didn’t do.
Why didn’t you?
What do you need to accomplish them this year?
Then go from there. Think of some words. Some will work but not be the right fit for you right now. That’s ok. I went through a lot of choices before I decided on fearless. I just wanted the word to fit how I wanted to feel in the new year and how I was going to get there.
