First step declutter
Before we start organizing your closet we need to do some decluttering. Decluttering is my favorite part of the organizing process because it’s so freeing to get rid of things that you don’t use or need.
Start by taking everything out of your closet. Then start purging, purging and purging. You shouldn’t have to spend so much time trying to figure out what to wear because you have way too much in your closet.
Get rid of all the clothes that no longer fit and that you no longer wear. Doing this will make your life less stressful because it will make getting ready much faster and easier.
A great added benefit of decluttering your clothes and closets is that you will have less laundry. Who doesn’t want less laundry to do?
Don’t know what to declutter? Here is the big list of things to declutter today this list will get you started and help you get rid of a ton of clutter.
Step two: Use What you already own
When you want to organize your closet on a budget or really any other place in your home on a budget it’s a good idea to use things around your home that you already own.
I found a shoe holder like this one from amazon that we owned already but weren’t using. I hung it up in my closet and used it to put scarves and beanies in. This keeps them all in one place and organized and since I found something I already owned it cost me no extra money.
Step three: Get organization products that are inexpensive
1 If like me you have a lot of clothing that you fold that you’d still like to keep I your closet I recommend this hanging shelf organizer. This is what we use to organize all our t-shirts so we don’t have to hang them all.
2 A shoe rack is a great way to keep your shoes together and organized. This will help you keep them off the floor and in a big pile.
3 Save space in your closet with these space saving hangers. I’m ordering some of these for my daughter. She’s 14 and has more clothes than anyone I know and needs to maximize her closet space.
4 These foldable storage bins are a great way to organize your bras, socks and underware
