Over on Modern Mrs. Darcy, one of my favorite blogs to read. Anne shared her most popular posts of the year. I wanted to see what has been popular on A Fresh Start on a Budget this year.
I think it’s so much fun to look back and reflect on the year as we get closer to the new year beginning. I find it interesting to see what posts my readers liked and what did well during the year. These aren’t necessarily my favorite posts that I wrote but they were the most popular posts on my site from January 1st till now.
Some of the most popular posts of 2018 are surprising to me and others are not. It’s interesting to see what posts get picked up and gain attention and which ones don’t. Some posts I’ve written this year I feel are better and maybe they just need more time to get noticed by Pinterest or Google.
So here are the most popular posts of the year in order:
1 More than 80 things that you can throw out that are just Clutter: This post has been popular since I published it in February of 2017. Clearly, people really want to get rid of clutter. I’m not surprised that getting rid of clutter is such a popular topic. This is one of my most found posts with Google.
2. How to Begin Organizing when your Home is an Overwhelming Mess
Sometimes the mess can be so overwhelming and when you want to organize and clean you don’t know where to start. Here is how I do it when I feel that way.
3. 24 Reasons Why Having Less Stuff Can Make you a Happier Person
Stuff does not equal happiness. This can be hard to believe at times. So this post shares 24 reasons why having less stuff can actually make you happier. After the holidays I’m going to do some decluttering because we always get too much stuff this time of year.
4. 50 Stocking Stuffers that Men Will Get Excited For
I wrote this list of stocking stuffers for men after the one I wrote for women because my readers asked for it. I think men are who are more challenging to shop for so this post does well and is very popular on Pinterest.
5. Over 30 Dinner Ideas For Summer (no Oven Required)
When we lived in California I hatred making dinner during the summer because it was so hot. It turns out many people feel the same way.
6. 50 Stocking Stuffers that Women will Love
Here is the stocking stuffer ideas that women love. Most of these are things I know my sisters or friends enjoy receiving. Since both posts do well I’m guessing what to add to stockings can be a challenge sometimes.
Having brunch for Mother’s Day is something my family has done and I love brunch food so this roundup of ideas has lots of fun ideas for what to make for brunch.
8. 4 Ways to Tell that you are an Amazing Mom
This is one of my favorite posts that I wrote this year. I had been seeing so many moms I know doubting themselves online and I know they are amazing so I created this post to help moms realize they are more amazing than they realize.
9. 20 Amazing Home Office Organization Ideas
Having an organized space to work makes getting work done easier. These ideas for an organized home office really appealed to my readers.
10. Over 20 Tasty Father’s Day BBQ Ideas
Another food for a Holiday post that does well. Sometimes people just look for ideas for BBQ throughout the year and also this post gets a boost in June around Father’s Day.
11. 30 Steps to Start Living a more Amazing Life
We all want to live a more amazing life and I have found that when we follow these 30 steps life gets better. Most of them are pretty easy to do and will improve your life a lot.
I’m a little surprised that this was the only budgeting or money saving post to make the top 12 list this year. In 2019 my budget is going to be more of a priority so there will hopefully be more money-saving posts coming in the new year.
I’m excited to see what I write in 2019 and what the popular posts will be at the end of next year!
