I love the idea of this post that Anne from Modern Mrs. Darcy posts monthly on the things she learns each month. I find it interesting to read about what someone else has learned and discovered. So I have put together a list of a few of the things I have learned so far this year.
There are so many places I want to travel to
I have not traveled very much in my life. Growing up my family all lived close and my parents didn’t travel much so I hardly visited anywhere. As an adult, I’ve been to a few places in the US and I honeymooned in the Caribean. I’d love to travel more though.
My parents are moving to the East Coast in the next year or so and we plan to go out and visit them. Plus check out some neighboring states. Luckily my daughter has been able to visit some places with my in-laws. This has given her more opportunities to check out different places. Now that she is older I plan to have us travel a bit each summer and during school vacations.
I want to know where you all have visited that you recommend I travel to. I want to start planning out some future trips and want all the ideas I can get. So drop a comment below and let me know what to add to my list.
Law and Order SVU is just so good to Binge-watch
I love having the TV on all the time. Since I’m often home alone I think it’s just nice to have the TV on. Even when I’m doing other things the TV is often on and I will pause it if I need to focus on something. I’m really into binge-watching shows especially in bed before I go to sleep.
Right now I’m into Law and order SVU. The entire series, all 19 seasons! is on Hulu so I started from the beginning and am making my way through it. Many of the episodes I had seen or seen part of on TV through the years but it’s nice watching them in order and seeing the threads of different torylines that if you watch an episode by itself on TV I may not have picked up on.
That preordering a book is so much fun
I have a slight book buying addiction. I love reading and getting new books. This past year I have gotten a ton of book recommendations from Britco and often they are for upcoming books that will be being released.
So I started preordering from Amazon. It’s fun because often I will know a book is coming out soon but forget the exact date. Like I knew the latest book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series was being released in May but I forgot when and it’s fun that on the 1st when it was released it was automatically downloaded onto my Kindle app. I’m currently reading the latest book and it is so good. This is one of my favorite series.
Plus often when you preorder you get the book for the lowest price. Often the price goes up when the book is released.
One of my favorite books of 2017 is now a course
One of my favorite books of 2017 was The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin. It was such a great book about different personalities and how they are different and how to interact with types that are different than you. I learned a lot and loved the book so much that I got it for my mom for Christmas.
So it was so exciting to find out that she developed a course for the four tendencies. I preordered the course and am so excited for it to begin in a couple weeks. The book already helped me to learn so much and I love courses so I can’t wait to begin this course!
I am a winter person
Being born and raised in Southern California I lived most of my life with the heat of hot summers and really no seasons. One of the things we were most excited about with moving to Colorado is to actually have seasons, especially winter.
Each and every time it snowed was so fun and exciting for my daughter and me. My husband not so much but that’s mostly because he has to drive in it which isn’t his favorite thing. I always have had my favorite season be fall because my birthday and my daughter’s birthday are in October. Now though I’m thinking that I might love Winter more. Hopefully, we have more snow next winter because we heard from many locals that this was a pretty mild winter for the area but coming from winters in the 80’s it was cold for us.
