It’s almost that time of year again! Amazon Prime Day is July 16th and 17th and it is a great opportunity to save money on some great things on Amazon.
Just like last year, Amazon is promising a day (and a half) of deals to surpass Black Friday.
This year’s Prime Day will begin a day early at 3 p.m. ET on July 16th and run through the night and all day on July 17th.
Prime members will be able to snag exclusive deals on electronics, toys, video games, movies, clothing, patio, lawn and garden, sports, outdoor items, and more. They will even have tons of extra deals leading up to Prime Day.
Not an Amazon Prime member? If you’re not already an Amazon Prime member, now is a GREAT time to sign up for the free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime so that you can take advantage of all the Prime Day deals!
I thought it would be the perfect day to share why we choose to get Amazon Prime each year. Even though it’s a bit expensive I thought I’d share why Amazon Prime is worth it. And why we are willing to pay for the membership. Also how we make up the cost through the savings we get with our membership.

Free 2-day shipping
This is the number one reason why we got Prime and why we continue to get it each year. Being able to order something and get it within two days without paying for shipping comes in very hand. Especially when you order from Amazon a lot.
We now are able to order gifts for birthdays and holidays and know that they will get here within a couple of days. It ends up saving me the time and money of having to rush out to Target or somewhere last minute for gifts. Because if I go to Target I know I’m not just getting the gift I came for I’m getting 20 other things.
We are probably saving around seven dollars for two-day shipping each time we place an order. With all the birthday gifts, holiday gifts and emergency purchases. That $7 each time adds up. Plus getting it in 2 days can be very helpful.
Our air conditioning unit died on us this summer and it was getting hot fast. Got on Amazon ordered one and two days later it was here and we could set it up. Thank goodness!

Amazon Prime Streaming
This is the second major reason we chose to get Prime. There are so many TV shows and movies that are Free with your Prime account. Plus many others you can purchase but the Free Library is huge.
There are things that I love to watch (Me Before You, Suits) Things that my husband likes to watch (Doctor Who, Baywatch) Also there are options for kids like (Free Willy, Annie, Nut Job 2)
Even movies that are not included with prime are available at a discounted price for Prime Day. The movies that are offered with Prime are always being updated with new options.
Plus so many other great options and they are always adding more and updating their library. Getting all these free shows and movies is another reason Why Amazon Prime is worth it to us. We couldn’t afford to have all these movies and shows but they are included.
We canceled cable awhile ago so this is a great way for us to get more fun stuff to watch.

Prime Photo
Another great benefit of getting Prime is getting to use Prime photo. What you get is unlimited photo storage.
Upload photos from your phone, your computer and online and store them for free in Prime. If like me you have more photos then you know what to do with. Unlimited photo storage is an awesome benefit.

Prime music
Amazon offers a huge catalog of songs and albums you can listen to. You can download an app to your smartphone and listen to the music anywhere without using your cell phone data!
Listen to over a million songs, ad-free stations and hundreds of playlists with your Amazon Prime account.
The app will also download any music you’ve already purchased from Amazon and it will retroactively download any physical CD you ever purchased through Amazon.

Early access to deals
Who doesn’t like to get deals on things? I know I love it and being a Prime member means I get to see deals before anyone else does.
30-minute early access to select Amazon Lightning Deals
Consider yourself a techy, the best-styled fashionista on the block, or just an everyday savvy shopper? Be among the first to decide what’s hot and what’s not. Get 30-minute early access to select Lightning Deals on Amazon.
This is a great extra benefit of Prime. Then on special days like today’s Prime day you get all sorts of special deals that aren’t available to non-Prime users.
My husband and I made sure to take advantage of Prime day last year and saved 30-50% on a couple of things we’ve had our eyes on for a while now.
Getting the extra discount was a big saving for us and one of the ways we make up the price of being a member.
There are even more benefits to using Prime. These are just 5 favorites and that I get the most value out of. They offer the 30-day trial so you can check it out. Then from there, you will have to pay for a membership.
I know that we more than make up for the cost of being a member in all the free stuff and the savings. That is why Amazon Prime is worth it at least to me.

I love Amazon Prime, it’s one of the few services I find myself using quite a bit. Especially for holidays and birthdays, it’s so convenient.

I love amazon Prime. I originally signed up because of the free 2 day shipping but they have made so many more benefits to being a Prime member that I can’t imagine my life without it lol. They also give you a free ebook each month.

I totally agree! Amazon Prime pays for itself in my opinion. I love the free 2 day shipping and I use the Amazon music app all the time. I love that the music app doesn’t have commercials! It’s replaced Pandora and Spotify for me because I hate commercials when I’m listening to music.
