I know the Kardashians are not everyone’s favorite family and honestly there are a lot of things that they do that I personally would not do. To be honest though. I enjoy them. I watch there shows, I click on articles about them from time to time. I know I’m not the only one or they wouldn’t be so popular and in demand. So Here are the reasons why I like the Kardashians
1. I have two younger sisters and we are all close in age. So I relate to the interactions between the sisters. Obviously my sisters and I have a very different lifestyle than they do but things like not liking your sisters boyfriend, your sister using your stuff when they didn’t ask, who is mom’s favorite? I feel like that translates to sisters no matter your income, ages, lifestyle. They are a family first and though they might fight they support each other.
2. I respect the hustle Kris puts into making her children successful. She might make mistakes from time to time but she works hard to manage all of their careers. We will all make mistakes but it’s important to work hard and have the drive to do your job.
3. They interact and love their fans. They know that fans are the reasons that they are all so successful so the whole family is very active on social media and doing events to connect them with their fans. I think that is a major reason why they continue to be so popular because they respect the people watching their shows and buying their products. This is an important thing for businesses and bloggers to do as well and something I really want to work on that I see from watching them.
4. Even though there family is the business, they each seem to have areas of business they focus on. They are each going after their own passions. One is a model, clothing design, book writing, children’s clothing line. They don’t let the fact that they have a successful TV show be enough. They have individual interests and passions and are going after them which just grows their brands and businesses.
5. The whole family has to deal with constant criticism and people hating them and judging what they do. You can tell it gets to them at times, how could it not. They seem to have built a good support system of family and fiends to help them deal with things when it gets really bad. As a blogger you put yourself out there for people to read your words and that can come with judgments and negativity. Having support from your family and friends as well as a community of other bloggers can help make that easier to deal with.
6. You have to take risks. You might not agree with the recent photos of Kim in Paper magazine where she posed nude but you have to admit that she took a big risk and it got a lot of people talking. Sometimes in business and blogging you have to be willing to take a big risk to get people talking and get attention.
7. Speaking of that magazine, I also respect the confidence that the Kardashians have. I could never pose nude and it probably wouldn’t ever be a possibility in my life. That isn’t the business I’m in but there are other areas I could be more confident in. Asking for what I want, pursuing business opportunities, etc.

I haven’t watched an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians in my life and I mostly just know Kim, but the way some of the Internet reacted to those Break The Internet photos was just misogynistic and slut-shame-y as hell. It’s her body. She can do whatever she wants with it.
(And I don’t judge people who watch them, either. Entertainment is entertainment.)

Great post! I don’t completely share in your opinion, but that’s okay 🙂 I think that they definitely have issues (but what family doesn’t?) but I think the fame magnifies everything.

I can understand why you like and can relate to them. I know I wish I looked more like Kim myself! Not that I would agree on her men selection…but we all live, learn and roll with the punches. 🙂

Hmmm interesting post. Definitely agree with most if not all. But, I think that some of the ladies tend to make it look as only looks is what young ladies should focus on. I know they are hard working, but I guess I would like to see them be a better role mode for young girls.

I don’t watch the show or care for many of their antics but I like your perspective. They definitely know how to get their hustle on and some things can be learned from them.

I love the Kardashians – mainly because they’re as crazy as my family and also because they are all such different characters which is exactly how my sisters all are.
Kim’s magazine was titled ‘Break the Internet’ and I think she definitely did that! She knew the reaction that she wanted and she got it!
They’re a very bright family and play everything how they want it! We could all learn a lot from them I think!

Now I’m really glad I don’t have a TV because I would find myself judging and criticizing. I like your spin, but I don’t like how overrated they’ve become when there are so many other world issues that need our attention. This attention bothers me a lot.

These family members started being popular when I was overseas so I never really followed them very much. But they are in the news everywhere. I like it that they are risk-takers!

If there’s one thing you can say for the Kardashians, they know how to brand themselves and take advantage of their opportunities. It’s incredible the way they’ve turned those things into a fortune. I’m glad they taught you some positive message (without . . . let’s be honest . . . being the most positive members of society) and I hope they all turn out ok 🙂
Heather says
I agree with some of the other comments! They never bothered me before but now I feel like there is just TOO MUCH exposure on their family and I just get sick of hearing about them. But I respect all the things they have taught you as a blogger…you make good points! 🙂

Even with all of those points, I’m still not a Kardashian fan. I can’t get behind a family that basically got its start in entertainment because one of them had a successful sex tape. All kinds of yuck. :/

Definitely people who know how to work the business for being famous for literally nothing. I just wish there were better role models who are getting more recognition than Kim Kardashian.

I just don’t understand what they are known for? Where did their fame come from? Kim hung out with Paris back in the day and that was all it took. I do hand it to them though, they are business women for sure- they are very business saavy.

Businesspeople – certainly. They’ve taken what could have been 15 minutes of fame and built an empire out of it. More power to them! But, personally I almost completely ignore them. Obviously, though, they have millions of fans.

I understand why people are attracted to their show. It’s a glimpse of the glitz and the glamour. They have come a long way from their first season to how they are now, each member a millionaire with their own businesses and homes. They are probably what I would call the epitome of reality TV entertainment. Am I a fan? Not really, but I respect those who are 🙂

I see what you’re saying! They put themselves out there and should understand that critics are always going to be around for as long as they keep doing what they do. But, your points are valid and well put, and I think that is why I had a soft spot for the family for awhile, but I feel that lately things have felt more scripted than not. But, that’s just me. 🙂

The Kardashians are my guilty pleasure. They annoy the crap out of me yet I still watch to see what they’re wearing. It would be nice to see them use their influence for something that mattered a little more… maybe publicly raise money for a charity or something more useful than taking a risk by posing nude. So much more important stuff in the world that needs addressed. But like I said, when they’re on, I watch them too.
